In this Walmart mastercard review, we take a look at the Walmart credit card cashback rates and discuss whether they are good enough to be worth getting. We will also look at what other no fee credit cards in Canada can get you when shopping at Walmart Canada, so that if you are a frequent Walmart shopper, you can choose the best card for your shopping needs.

The Walmart Mastercard Canada offers 1.25% cash back on purchases made at Walmart, as well as 1% cash back on everything else. This is an incredibly low cash back rate for a certified Walmart credit card, specially given that other no fee credit cards like the AMEX SimplyCash Card give you a 1.25% cash back on everything.

There is also another no fee credit card Canada that offers a higher cash back rate at Walmart compared to the Walmart credit card, and that is the Tangerine MoneyBack Card. This card gives you 2% cash back on 2 categories of your choice, and is the only credit card in Canada that categorizes Walmart stores as a grocery store. Therefore, if you get the Tangerine MoneyBack Card, you could select groceries as one of your 2 high cash back rate categories, and by doing so, you would get 2% Walmart cash back as well.

All in all, the Walmart Rewards Mastercard Canada is a disappointment, and the fact that the Walmart credit card benefits are less than other generic cash back credit cards at the Walmart stores in Canada means that the Walmart Rewards Credit Card should look to offer higher rates in the future. As a result, I wouldn't recommend that you rush out to the nearest Walmart store in order to sign up for the Walmart Mastercard 2024.
