A Prairie Craftsman Home: House Flipper 2 Sandbox Tour

So what is the difference between a craftsman bungalow and a prairie craftsman home? Well, it's mostly the differences in the exterior facade. The bungalow style has a peaked roof with typically a number gables and other purely decorative features. The prairie style, made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright, has a horizontal design with a flat roof to blend with the flat midwestern landscape, where Wright spent his early life. Materials are typically stucco or brick, rather than wood siding common in the bungalow style.

Interiors are similar, although the prairie interior is based more on horizontal design. Both are representative of the arts and crafts movement in the United States, blending the use of natural materials and and the influence of artistic design with built in features and custom furniture.

The interior of this house includes some of my own custom furniture in the mission style. This is my favorite style of architecture and design, and the virtual build was a joyful process for me.
