In this video we find elusive blonde morels and brown morels, and a bunch of other mushrooms in the Pacific Northwest. Adam McCrae of Mushroom Marauder fungal fame joins Aaron Hilliard of Mushroom Wonderland on a walk through a riparian habitat just outside of Portland Oregon to find these interesting and tasty morsels growing in their natural habitat. Between finding amazing mushrooms there is a lot of great discussion about the do's and don'ts of mushroom hunting, and some laughs are had too. If you’d like to dive a little deeper you can sign up for the 3 part intro to mycology course at the Olympic College in Bremerton. This is a non-credit class for personal enrichment. Aaron instructs the class in person, which covers what fungi is, how it grows, and its relationship to the world around it. The second class covers introduction to wild mushrooms and mushroom identification, and the third class goes over fungi cultivation and the history of mycological sciences and taxonomy. There is usually a foray into the woods for students who have attended the 3 classes. The classes are only offered in person right now, but they may be made into an online version soon.
