Questions remain over when Prime Minister Anthony Albanese last put his hands into “his own pockets” and “paid his way”, Sky News host Peta Credlin says.

“Breaching these rules as a minister … it is supposed to be a sacking offence, it is there to stop our leaders turning their public duty into a private profit,” Ms Credlin said.

“It is not as if they are poorly paid, for 28 years Anthony Albanese has been on a six-figure salary as a politician … now $607,000 as prime minister.”

Mr Albanese has faced a barrage of criticism regarding allegations he solicited tens of thousands of dollars of business and first-class upgrades from former Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce.

The Prime Minister admitted he discussed flights with the former Qantas CEO but declined to answer specific questions about whether he had solicited upgrades.
