The flood was so powerful that huge stones and heavy water currents swept away everything in their path. Entire families were displaced as houses vanished beneath the rising waters. Roads, including the vital Gilgit–Shandur Road, were cut off, leaving people isolated and helpless.

Thanks to timely warnings, many villagers evacuated in time, which saved lives. Still, the destruction was massive. Pakistan Army helicopters and rescue teams rushed to the area, carrying out urgent evacuation and relief operations. Reports confirm that over 50 people were rescued, but the situation remains critical.

Adding to the danger, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms from 23 to 27 August. This means that the disaster could worsen, and the people of Ghizer Valley remain at high risk.
