Keith Emerson and Robert Berry "Fanfare for the Common Man" Live on KOME/Blazy & Bob Show 1989

Описание к видео Keith Emerson and Robert Berry "Fanfare for the Common Man" Live on KOME/Blazy & Bob Show 1989

Another long-lost video and another Blazy & Bob Show exclusive. Keith Emerson, Carl Palmer and Robert Berry came out with their album "To the Power of Three" in 1988. The following year, Keith and Robert guested on our "Breakfast Club" live show and performed the Emerson, Lake, and Palmer classic, "Fanfare for the Common Man". We, along with our live audience that morning, were blown away.

First of all, HUGE thanks to Greg Mullins once again for this amazing video find. Like others on my channel, these were made at the time for his personal collection. To see them after all this time is like opening another rock and roll time capsule. I always had the original broadcast sound in my personal archives. We are very happy to put them together for you to enjoy.

About the sound quality. Back then, the only way we could broadcast our show from another location was to use an upgraded phone line back to the studio. Greg and I have no idea what happens at the 5:21 mark. Somehow the sound mysteriously changes. But it's still great hear and to be able to SEE the legendary Keith Emerson and the fun he's having with good friend and multi-instrumentalist/music producer Robert Berry. They are along with Preston Thrall on drums, and Paul Keller on lead guitar. Paul had also been in Robert's Bammie Award winning band, Hush. Four excellent musicians, looking fantastic. Keith in the blazer! (Playing on equipment of our live band, The Blazers.)

Obviously much thanks to Robert for making this happen back then. We've remained friends since I began at KOME. When I contacted him to inform him of this rare find, he was thrilled, since over the past few years, he had been working the "3.2" project of material he had with he, Keith and Carl Palmer. He said "You were the only one doing this back then. Putting on live shows like that. No one else." We did it for the listeners so they could see their rock idols in moments like this. Unforgettable.

By the way, it was a Halloween show, that's why you see the guy in the shiny matching head dress and vest walking around taking pictures. I believe we kept referring to that listener as "The Swami". This is just 7 minutes of a four-hour show we did that morning inside the nightclub of the (then) Double Tree Hotel in Santa Clara, next to the (then) brand-new convention center. Another person we see in all of these videos is Flip taking pictures. He was all over the room every show. It would be real nice to see his photo collection.

Thanks to the KOME listeners, Ron Nenni, Dave Wohlman, and to you for liking and subscribing these rare glimpses of rock radio history.

Also thanks to my current radio listeners who get to hear these rare finds first on the air! To all of you, keep rockin'!
