A histogram is a special kind of bar chart. The main difference is that there are no spaces between the bars in the chart and the x-axis contains a range of numbers rather than text labels. A histogram is used to represent a frequency distribution of data, where each of the bins are the same width on the x-axis. It is used in statistics to show a large amount of data in a single figure.
