After Thoughts about the Video: The Great American TOWING scandal by automakers has been going on for nearly 50years and is well documented. The same vehicles sold in other countries with rated towing capacities are intentionally listed as NOT TO BE USED FOR TOWING(only in North America) in an effort to sell high profit large TRUCKS. Take this VW Pickup I have here with a ZERO tow capacity in America and a 2000lb in every other country. The little Ford Escort has zero towing capacity but has a better weight to power ratio than a Jeep Wrangler of the same year rated for 2000lbs. Of course in Europe an escort is rated too tow. Modern vehicles are no exception. Take the tiny Toyota Yaris which gets a 2300lb towing capacity in Europe but 0 in North America and you're told it "can't tow anything". Honda CRV is rated at 4400lbs World Wide/ 1500lbs US only and the list goes on. Heck a Harley Davidson is rated to tow 1000lbs simply because they don't sell trucks and aren't trying to strong arm you into a more profitable purchase.


The main limiting factor to being able to tow with a small car is the tongue weight. YOU HAVE TO put at least 10% of the weight on the vehicle to have a stable load. So 2000lb trailer you need 200lbs or more on the tongue, NO EXCEPTIONS. As a general rule of thumb you can tow up to the weight of your vehicle.
