Personal connections with nature are powerful, they are essential to our health and wellbeing and if we spend time in nature early in life, we're more likely to care for it and protect it later in life.

However, young people are not as connected as they used to be so we're putting the power into the hands of the young to share their stories of love for nature, to inspire other young people to visit and value nature.

The (re)Generation Project is a Macquarie University research project supported by the NSW Environmental Trust, exploring ways to engage and inspire young people back to nature. We have been helping 14-27 year olds craft their stories about the people and places that keep them connected to nature into short films. We're now exploring the power of these stories to inspire a new generation back to the bush.

There are 11 short films (3-5) minutes, including the 14-year-old shark girl's story in Bellingen, the story of a respite for a boy on his rooftop garden in Bangladesh, and a young Indigenous man's story of healing that becomes a universal teaching for us all.
