Robert is giving a Sleep Concert in San Francisco on Feb 24th 2018: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/robert-r... .
And now there is a recording of it on BandCamp:(https://robertrich.bandcamp.com/album... ).

Robert Rich's musical journey has been pervaded by the Sleep Concerts, since 1982 at Stanford University, and with Perpetual - A Somnium Continuum, he returned to to the slow-motion core of his creative heart.

"I will always be connected to sonic explorations at the edges of perception, trance consciousness, dreams, altered states, communal ritual."

Robert advises that you can:
"...listen to this music at any hour, at any volume, but it works best quietly at night... at a soft, comfortable volume for falling asleep... when you are sleeping, it should be soft enough that it hovers just at the edge of awareness."

With this moving painting I imagined a visual tonic to accompany Perpetual (or Somnium, for that matter), so that participants in a Sleep Concert who were unable to drift off, could be helped visually as well as acoustically.

Although semi-abstract, I wanted to create themes of rest, dissolution, surrealism and subtle unease, which is what I find Robert's music - and Perpetual in particular - engender in me.
