Well this is the 4th video from the very start of my journey cycling down the length of NZ following the Tour Aotearoa (TA) route in early 2023!

The Tour Aotearoa is a 3000 km bikepacking journey down the length of Aotearoa New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff. I had some extended leave from work at the start of 2023 and decided to give it a go. I didn't have any bikepacking experience before setting off on this adventure, and I had found it so useful to watch other people's TA journeys on youtube when I was preparing for my ride - especially videos from other more novice and inexperienced riders like myself - so, in addition to creating these videos for friends and family, I figured that if I did actually complete the ride, I would "pay it forward" and share this journey with future TA riders in case it could add another story of encouragement to others on the novice/newbie cyclist end of the spectrum who are considering the journey.

FYI as you'll see if you watch this video, I really have no idea what I'm doing tech-wise, and my iPhone video-making skills are as basic as they get. Fortunately the quality does get marginally better over time as I start searching things like "how do I combine multiple clips into one video?" and "how do I edit down video clips?" and "how do I add music to a video?" and whatnot, so, feel free to skip ahead and watch more recent uploads if you find it annoying to just listen to me talk endlessly into the camera here! However, if you're interested in the whole story of my journey doing the TA, though, these early videos are a good place to start.
