CHIPUDE

This village, nestled in the upper part of Vallehermoso, southeast of La Gomera, offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty. Chipude is considered one of the oldest settlements on La Gomera, with habitation traces dating back to pre-Spanish times.

The village's most prominent historical site is the Chipude Fortress, a natural monument that has played a significant role throughout La Gomera's history. This plateau offers excellent views, although climbing steep rock sides is challenging.

Today, Chipude is a quaint settlement with limited but charming facilities. Accommodation options include the Hotel Bar Sonia, which offers a cozy stay and a few Airbnb choices.

Dining options are centred around the village square, with Hotel Navarro and Hotel Bar Sonia providing satisfying meals. Near the square, essential services like a small supermarket and an ATM are available, along with charging points for electric vehicles.

Getting to Chipude involves a journey through the mountains via car, taxi, or bus ride from Port San Sebastian or the airport near Playa Santiago. Each takes about 45-60 minutes.
