Gerald Cotten, co-founder and CEO of QuadrigaCX, Canada's largest crytpo exchange died at age 30 in December 2018, due to complications from Crohn's Disease while traveling in India. According to the company, Gerald Green, was the only person with password access to $145 million worth of cryptocurrency that was stored offline, and now those accounts are frozen and investors are in a frenzy. Due to the wild nature of the story, investors are demanding his body be exhumed to prove that he is really dead, as many believe he ran off with the funds and is still alive. It is unlikely investors will have their funds returned. When storing cryptocurrency on an exchange, there is always the risk of hacks or trusting a third party to be responsible. The safest way to store cryptocurrency is by holding your own private keys, which will be reviewed in this video.
