Yong Tau Foo - Tofu and Fish Balls in Singapore (永祥兴豆腐)

Описание к видео Yong Tau Foo - Tofu and Fish Balls in Singapore (永祥兴豆腐)

Yong tau foo is a popular Chinese Singaporean dish of mixed tofu and fish cakes, and in this video I tried it from a place called Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo (永祥兴豆腐).

Similar to Chinatown Complex Food Centre in Singapore is People’s Park Food Centre, located just across the street in Singapore’s Chinatown. The food court hawker center is also home to a huge selection of different foods, and lots to choose from. But among the selection is one noticeable stall called Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo, that is famous for serving an old fashioned style of yong tau foo. As soon as they open, they have an immediate long line of loyal customers who are waiting in line for their afternoon bowl.

I joined the line, and it didn’t take long to get my bowl of Singapore style yong tau foo, the line moves quickly because there are no options for what to order, you just have a choice of how many bowls you want to order. I just got a single bowl and after making my order, we went to go sit down and they delivered our bowl to us.

Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo serves a famous Singapore Chinese dish called yong tau foo, which is a dish made up of different pieces of tofu and fish cake or fish meatballs. Sometimes it can be dry and served with noodles on the side, but this one was served in a light clear soup. There were a mixed variety of handmade and fresh tasting tofu and meatballs in the soup. It was good, but a bit plain, but everything taste quite good quality. Overall, I thought the bowl of yong tau foo made a good afternoon snack in Singapore.
