Nitric Oxide (NO) and Arginine Metabolism || Biochemistry || NEET PG

Описание к видео Nitric Oxide (NO) and Arginine Metabolism || Biochemistry || NEET PG

This is the video on synthesis of nitric oxide, Nitric Oxide's functions and Arginine Metabolism Arginine is basic and semi essential amino acid along with synthesis of nitric oxide and its various biological functions.

Importance of Arginine
Arginine takes part in the formation of urea.

Arginine is involved in the synthesis of creatine, an important constituent of muscle. In the formation of creatine, the guanidinium group of arginine is transferred to glycine.

Nitric oxide is synthesized from arginine
Mechanism of Action of Nitric Oxide
NO diffuses to the adjacent smooth muscle and activates guanylate cyclase.

Increased level of cyclic GMP activates protein kinase in smooth muscles, kinase in smooth muscles, leading to relaxation leading to relaxation of muscles.

Thus NO is a vasodilator.
