The Eiffel Tower ( tour Eiffel , in French ), initially named tour of 300 mètres ( tower of 300 meters ), is a structure of puddled iron designed by the engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier , endowed with its definitive aspect by the architect Stephen Sauvestre and built by the French engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel and his collaborators for the Universal Exhibition of 1889 in Paris.
