Viva Bonderam !!! Call it Diwade or Divar island, well with open arms the greenfields will welcome you and give you the experience of serenity. The only way to connect to this island is waterway and ferry is the medium of transport. This island gets most happening thrice in year, twice in the month of August because there happens Bondera on 3rd and 4th Saturday of the month August and few days before lent it is the festival of Potekars. So these are 3 festivals that brings the entire entertainment enthusiast to the island. Island that hosts various temples, churches and beautiful houses but Bonderam is the festival which takes us into Portuguese era. It was said that people who lived on island Divar were divided into two groups and they always had dispute about the borders. So when Portuguese came to the island they decided to end this rivalry and decided to put flags on the borders. But then other group did not like the idea of Portuguese and they used to come with Fatasho to guard theirs borders. Bonderam or flags used to be put on the borders tom demark the borders and they is to fire this Fatasho on the people who is to put those flags to protect their boundaries and since then this festival is a celebration of people from Divar island.
