Important note: this plant is TOXIC to humans and animals and should not be consumed. Handling the plant is fine, but do not eat it or put it close to children and small animals. This is a really elegant looking cottage-style garden plant. It self seeds and comes back reliably from crown shoots. It's a profuse bloomer, with an increasing number of bloom spikes with each passing season. This summer blooming plant, in the genus Delphinium (family Ranunculaceae), comes in some of the most profoundly blue shades. Some so blue that they even look fake. I recommend the Pacific Giants selection for if you want a nice variety of colours and a tall plant structure. They take about 2-3 years to establish well, and dont like to be moved too much. Divide them with a sharp spade every few years to spread and reinvigorate them. If you want to grow them from seed, sow them on a flat of potting mix, water well, keep consistently moist and expect germination within 1 to 3 weeks (they can be pretty darn slow). In my experience, germination rates are about 80%, in ideal situations. Plant the seed at a depth of 2 cm for optimal results. Tip: plant them at the back of borders with smaller plants in front. They look AMAZING when they're contrasted with different forms and colours. My recommended companion plants: Yellow loosestrife, Red Salvia, Geum Cocktail series and French Marigolds :) have a good day yall, I'm grateful for ya;)
