This is my first attempt: neither complete nor refined. The box is much taller than needed, even without an external water supply.
The lights must be bright enough to counter ambient (white) light in room. They also MUST provide enough heat to warm mist so that it will rise in a flame-like fashion. Insufficient heat results in a steam like appearence. I used lights with 12 volt transformer to have all items near water as low voltage as possible.
The fan power should be very low, just enough to move mist to heated area. Even my small 12 volt fan with a 5 volt power supply is far to much.
The flame color is provided by amber filters. The material must withstand the high temperateres near the bulbs. I will be looking for glass or plexiglass for final build and will replace the clear plexi used here with colored. Again with ambient room light present I would use dark amber.
