Miss Otis Regrets - The Four King Sisters

A rather odd little song written by Cole Porter, telling the woeful tale of a most polite society lady, who discovered her betrothed was unfaithful, and she was so distraught she was compelled to murder him. Once arrested and executed for her crime of passion, her only statement was "Miss Otis Regrets (She's Unable to Lunch Today).

Sung here by the King Sisters backed by Frank De Vol's orchestra (1947), there is a lot of fun vocal inflections and wry humor interjected into this sad, sad tale.
