Beneficial Nematodes for Pest Control - Mode of Action

Beneficial nematodes play an important role in the biological control of many pests. But how do beneficial nematodes work? After application, the beneficial nematodes set out in search of their prey by actually hunting or ambushing prey insects in your orchards. Once they have found a host insect, they penetrate its natural body openings. Once they are in the insect, they release a special cocktail, consisting of a specific symbiotic bacterium and proteins, that kills the insect. Beneficial nematodes reproduce within the insect. As the nematode population increases, they search for new hosts, continuing the cycle of pest control.
