Armadillos of the Present and Past

Award-winning author Elizabeth Shreeve presents her new children’s book, THE ODDBALL BOOK OF ARMADILLOS (Norton Young Readers, September 3, 2024). The only mammals with hard exterior coverings, armadillos are a unique hodgepodge of features and behaviors. In short, they’re oddballs! Using evocative artwork from the book, Elizabeth will pair and compare modern species like the adorable pink fairy armadillo and the chilling screaming hairy armadillo with their ancient counterparts, such as the car-sized glyptodont. Entertaining and educational, The Oddball Book of Armadillos digs into the evolutionary history of armadillos and considers their future in our changing world.
