In 1852, they built an ordinary school in an ordinary American town. But when a janitor opened a door that wasn't supposed to exist, he found something that made him quit his job and leave the state. Behind that door: nine-foot ceilings where there should be dirt. Cobblestone streets twenty feet underground. Windows bricked over from the outside — windows that once looked into rooms that no longer exist. The deeper I investigated, the stranger it got: brick stamps from decades before the school was built, newspaper notices warning citizens that "access to the underground portions is hereby prohibited," and a mysterious man named Marcus Whitfield who owned it all before vanishing from every record. Then I found the 1923 document that said "no further documentation required" — and within weeks of my discovery, construction crews arrived to pour concrete into every passage I'd mapped. If it's just an old basement, why send lawyers? If it's just storage, why make witnesses disappear? Something is buried beneath that school. Something they've been hiding for 180 years. And the children who attend classes above it? They keep drawing the same picture — a long underground corridor — even though no one ever told them it exists.
