Easy (and FUN!) Art for Kids: Black Glue Butterflies

A super easy and fun art activity for kids that lets you explore the symmetry of butterflies while creating a beautiful stained glass effect.


MATERIALS:
•Sturdy paper
•Glue
•Black paint (acrylic or tempera)
•Watercolor paints


INSTRUCTIONS:
1. First make your black glue by mixing half a bottle of black glue with a tablespoon or more of black paint.
2. Fold your paper in half, crease in the center, and unfold
3. Use your bottle of black glue to "draw" half of a butterfly on half of the paper
4. Fold the paper in half again
5. Press with your hands to transfer the butterfly design, then open to reveal the entire butterfly!
6. Let your design dry for several hours or overnight
7. Once dry, paint in the sections with watercolor paint for a beautiful, stained glass effect
