Roland MC-808 - D beam - quick look at some questions

Описание к видео Roland MC-808 - D beam - quick look at some questions

Here I have attempted to answer some questions about the D beam.
When the "D-Beam" is set to SOLO SYNTH mode, where does the sound come-from?
--- It is a MONO SYNTH voice, extra to the 16 parts.

Can you routed the SOLO SYNTH sound through the FX architecture?
--- No it is 'DRY'.

The D-Beam on TURNTABLE mode can be set to increase or decrease the selected effect (BPM / TEMPO /BOTH) as you move your hand closer or further away.

In TURNTABLE mode, you can choose to adjust BPM, or TEMPO, or BOTH bpm and tempo at the same time.

I've attempted to demonstrate how this sounds on a present pattern in the video.

Notes - The D beam is sensitive to shadows and light level changes.
This can make it rather unreliable for consistent or precise input.
However, it can be interesting to use it for some 'unexpected changes' or surprises to a parameter.

If the 'range' and the 'sensitivity' settings for the D beam are used to control value changes, there can be subtle colour and interest added to the sounds.

I have so much yet to learn about on this device !
