Q: What does "ac only" or "auto-combat only" mean?
Age of Wonders 3 is known for its manual, turn-based tactical combat. In short, I've decided to abandon this feature in favor of the auto-combat AI - to save time, and also balance the game in a way.
Unlike in manual combat, in auto-combat players can no longer exploit the AI by stalling battle - to kite the enemy around, spam abilities, farm XP, convert tons of units, etc.
These mechanics aren't inherently bad; however, they do make the game a lot more tedious and time-consuming, not to mention create a need for balance mods to reduce the sheer amount of exploitability, as well as patch resulting power imbalances between various classes.

Q: What is M-Series?
Just like the original 1v1 series, except we play on a medium map (instead of a small map). This generally makes for a longer game with more focus on economy and empire building.
Q: What is PBEM?
PBEM stands for Play-By-Email.
In the 90s, people would share game saves via email to play turn-based games asynchronously (not live).
Age of Wonders 3 has a PBEM server, but there's no email involved. You simply take your turn, which is automatically uploaded to the server. Then the next player automatically downloads the game, takes their turn, and so on...
In this way, we can play at our leisure with people all over the world.
Q: What is Ironman Mode?
In all the games on this channel, we play with Ironman Mode. This means that the game will keep track and notify the lobby whenever a player has restarted his or her turn.
If a player is found to have restarted his or her turn (or if his or her game crashed by accident), we revert the turn, set the timer to 1 day and let it expire, effectively skipping the turn. Any income, production, research, and spells will still go through, but the player's units will remain idle.
In a more serious setting, players would be urged to take periodic screenshots or video of their turns. In the event of a crash, an impartial judge could review the evidence, preventing the need to skip the turn.
Q: What the heck is a HasteBerryPie?
Haste Berries are a visit site in Age of Wonders 3 that restore your units' movement points. I like pie. Any more questions?
