Once a year in the fall of the Jewish calendar year, there was the Day of Atonement which is also known as Yom Kippur. It was a day in which the sanctuary was cleansed of the record of forgiven sins of Israel. The Bible tells us in Hebrews chapter 8 that the sanctuary and its services is a type of the sanctuary in heaven where Jesus ministers as our High Priest.
