In this video I am playing the DW Design Series 5-piece kit in a really beautiful white satin matte finish. I didn't know what to think about a matte finish on a drum-set. Drums are usually shiny with lacquer finishes or bright sparkle wraps, but when I saw this DW kit up close I said to myself, "wow!" The way the chrome hardware stands out against the white matte finish is gorgeous.

Not only do these drums look good, they sound great. Made out of 100 percent North American Hard Rock Maple these have a rich tone with plenty of attack. In this shell pack you get a 5.5" x 14" snare drum, 8" x 10" and 9" x 12" rack toms, 14" x 16" floor tom, and an 18" x 22" kick-drum.

The drums feature DW's SSC shell configuration. That means each drum will have a great tone that will match the rest of the kit. The snare in a 10-ply HVX shell which has two plies that have diagonal grain. The toms and kick-drum feature 8-ply HVLT construction which means the outer ply and the inner ply have vertical grain. All of that gives you drum shells that have beautiful resonance, tone, and are able to be tuned easily.

Some other great features of this DW design Series kit are the newly-designed mini Turret lugs, STM (Suspension Tom Mounts), True-Pitch Tuning, MAG throw-off and three position Butt Plate on the snare drum, and low-mass die cast claw hooks for the kick drum hoops.
