TESSERACT - SINGULARITY // IEM Mix // ArcTanGent rehearsal, 18th August 2022

As requested, here's another live rehearsal one-take. You're hearing the exact mix I hear on stage in my in-ear-monitors - this is about as perfect a mix as I've ever had for a live show and when paired with my Porter and Davies BC gigster (drum throne monitor), the 'feel' on stage is immense.

We've only ever played this song a few times live in full, so it almost feels like a new song at this point, despite being 10 years old. This is probably the most difficult song in the set to navigate (Acle agrees). As you'll no doubt hear, there's a metronome keeping the pulse but over the top of that, there are all kinds of cues to signal specific small changes we need to be aware of. There's an awful lot of counting in this song, which would normally mean I'm not ready to perform it live... you should never be counting on stage, you should be 'feeling'. But it feels pretty good in this run-through I think.

This is a rare example of a song where I do actually need a couple of vocal cues. In the ending section especially - if I don't hear Dan sing 'tarnish my every chance', I completely miss the timing for the drum fill.

Anyway, I'm definitely stoked to have this one in the set and interested in what you guys think. Is this one of your faves? Anything you like/dislike about my 2022 interpretation of this song, as I've definitely changed some sections up?
