BMW F 700 GS: Replacing the gear selector shaft - without draining the oil!

Описание к видео BMW F 700 GS: Replacing the gear selector shaft - without draining the oil!

Welcome back to another Nicht Uber Max BMW motorcycle tech video right here on the MOA's YouTube channel. We hope you'll like, comment, ask questions, subscribe, ring the bell and continue supporting the MOA with your membership.

This is the first of our videos to feature an MOA's members motorcycle, in this case, a BMW F 700 GS the owner rides hard and often, both on- and off-road. During a recent off-road expedition, she encountered some rocks, resulting in damage to the internal and external shifting mechanisms.

Tools needed:

Torque wrench!
T50 and T30 torx drivers
5mm hex driver
a couple of screwdrivers (to pry out the old seal)
an appropriately sized socket to seat the selector shaft seal

Parts/supplies needed:

Selector shaft cpl., plus stop disk and seal
Shift lever (reuse pinch bolt if undamaged)
Optional, but recommended - clutch cover gasket
Optional - clutch cable end clip
Blue thread locking compound (medium strength, removable with standard hand tools)
Cleaning solution/spray plus lint-free rags
Duct tape or electrical tape

We do not provide any torque values in this video for one simple reason - you should always look up the torque values appropriate for your specific motorcycle. There is too much variance between models and even model years to reliably state the torque values appropriate for your motorcycle. ALWAYS USE A TORQUE WRENCH!
