Wasps feed on sweet syrup that the wasp grubs produce inside the wasp nest. In the early autumn the queen wasp stops laying eggs, this means no more wasp grubs to feed the adult worker wasps!
Its this time of the year when wasps attack you in the garden or beer garden...especially when you have a sweet drink.
The wasps are hungry, they want sweet syrup, and your sweet coca cola or sweet cider is just what they want!
Aphids produce a sweet syrup when they suck on the leaves and bark of plants and trees, especially willow trees!
Black aphids are the hungry wasps favourite meal maker. The Black Aphid literally poops out syrup all day long! A match made in heaven eh!!!!
