February 12, 2000 - After the NBA Slam Dunk Contest was cancelled for the 1998 and 1999 seasons, the league ordered its triumphant return in 2000. Here, with Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, and more on the docket, TNT teased the contest's return with the help of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Fantasy".

Of small note, Vince Carter's college teammate Antawn Jamison can been seen repeatedly in the TNT intro. He was originally tabbed as one of the contest's six contestants before bowing out due to injury. Ricky Davis of the Charlotte Hornets served admirably as his replacement (though he didn't make the intro cut).

The 2000 contest is most notable for being Vince Carter's slam dunk coronation. Carter introduced no less than three new dunks to the viewing public, executing each with a combination of grace, power, and innovation rarely, if ever, seen.
