Federico Faggin: The Nature of Consciousness

Описание к видео Federico Faggin: The Nature of Consciousness

After describing the origin of his motivation to study consciousness and free will and how he reached the hypothesis that they are fundamental aspects of nature, the author will outline the main points of a theory of reality developed in collaboration with the quantum information theorist G. M. D’Ariano. In this theory, quantum information supervenes on consciousness and free will, quantum physics supervenes on quantum information, and classical physics supervenes on quantum physics. Three of the many crucial consequences of this theory are: (1) ontology and creativity reside on conscious experience, (2) the combination problem that beset panpsychist theories has been resolved, and (3) classical computers cannot be conscious. This falsifiable theory places consciousness and free will at the center of the universe.

Federico Faggin is a physicist, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, and author. He developed the MOS Silicon Gate Technology at Fairchild (1968) and designed the world’s first microprocessor at Intel (1971). Faggin also founded and led Zilog, Synaptics, and other high-tech companies before starting the Federico and Elvia Faggin Foundation (2011) dedicated to the science of consciousness. F. Faggin’s autobiography, SILICON: From the invention of the microprocessor to the new science of consciousness is available in the US on Amazon.
