An immense, relatively empty region of space: KBC Void.

Cosmic voids are vast spaces between filaments which contain very few or no galaxies. They are typically 10 to 100 megaparsecs across. Surrounding them are galaxy filaments and superclusters. Voids have density 1/10th the average density of the Universe.

Our own galaxy is located in an under-densed region, which is essentially a void that is 2 billion light years across, known as KBC Void.

The KBC Void is not absolutely empty. It contains our own galaxy - the Milky Way, the local group and a large part of the Laniakea Supercluster. The Milky Way lies within a few hundred million light years of the void's center.

It is much larger than the Boötes Void (330 Mly). In fact, the KBC Void is currently the largest known supervoid.

The existence of such supervoids have shown to be consistent with the standard cosmological model. Galaxies inside the void experience a gravitational pull from outside. Hence yielding a larger local value of the Hubble constant. Thus, the discrepancies in the value of Hubble constant measured via different methods might be attributed to the presence of the void.
