Song by Jeremy Passion called Lemonade

We all know how tempting it is to go outside and lay in the sun. We have been waiting all year for summer! But, if we spend too much time outdoors we could get sunburned. Sunburns are not pretty. Your face is bright red, your nose starts peeling and you if you spend enough time in the sun you can even get huge blisters! Gross! For some people with extremely pale complexions it is hard to avoid sunburns and sometimes you are in a situation where you forgot to put sunscreen on. So here are some at home remedies for sunburn.

But first a reminder:
Do not forget to use sunscreen!! Don't even stop at that. Wear wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses to protect yourself from UV rays. You can even wear sunscreen on your body at night so that the sunscreen builds up in your skin. Also, make sure to use a chapstick that contains SPF to protect your lips.
OK. So now let's talk remedies
When you get a sunburn it is important to treat the damaged skin area quickly so the damage does not become permanent. This means trying to reduce inflammation ASAP
• soak a facecloth in a bowl of skim milk and ice and apply it to the area for five to ten minutes, Or apply a wet, cool washcloth to the affected area to
The cold, pH level, and protein in the milk relieve redness
• Take an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen
• Take a cool bath or shower
• oatmeal is full of vitamins, minerals and lipids that add moisture to benefit the condition of one's skin. It contains both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and as such is ideal for sensitive skin and to treat a variety of skin disorders such as sunburns, eczema and poison oak
o Add Oatmeal to cool bathwater offers another wonderful relief for sunburned skin. Be warned that oatmeal can mess up the drains in your bath so put the oatmeal in a sachet. I chose to use a coffee filter today because they are so easy to get. I put the oatmeal in the coffee filter and then closed it by tying some floss. You can also use a rubber band, staple etc. Then you place the oatmeal pouch under the cool bathwater and then you can leave it in your bath so that the nutrients continue to seep into the bathwater.
• the thick, gel-like juice of the aloe vera plant can take the sting and redness out of a sunburn. Aloe vera causes blood vessels to constrict. Luckily, this healing plant is available at your local nursery or even in the grocery store's floral department. Simply slit open one of the broad leaves and apply the gel directly to the burn. Apply five to six times per day for several days.
• As the sun fried your skin, it also dehydrated it. Be sure to replenish liquids by drinking plenty of water while recovering from sunburn. Being well hydrated will help burns heal better. You'll know you're hydrated when your urine runs almost clear.
• Potatoes provide an anti-inflammatory effect on skin and they also give you a soothing and cooling sensation when put on skin. Potatoes include important nutrients for skin like Vitamin-C, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and zinc. Potatos can stimulate collagen and can also stimulate essential cellular turnover for a toned, vibrant, youthful complexion. So we are going to take two washed potatoes, peel them, then cut them into small chunks, and place them in a blender or food processor. Blend or process until the potatoes are in liquid form. Add water if they look dry. Pat the burned areas with the pulverized potatoes. Wait until the potatoes dry, and then take a cool shower. Another less messy method is to apply the mash to a clean gauze and place on the burn. Change the dressing every hour. Continue applying several times a day for a few days until the pain is relieved.
• Alternately you can make a cucumber mash and do the same. Cucumbers have natural antioxidant and analgesic properties.
