Often kindness is misinterpreted by people as a weak quality to have, as it often gets understood as being a pushover or people pleaser
However, it is equally a sign of strength, as it takes a great deal of courage and confidence to show kindness to someone else
Many people will be appreciative of such an attitude and will reciprocate your behaviour, meaning your influence can be positive
...and even if people are difficult, it takes someone who is extremely mentally strong to keep showing kindness even if they haven't always benefitted from it

2. Acknowledging Weaknesses
It takes a lot of courage to be totally honest and true to yourself to acknowledge your flaws
This isn't the same as putting yourself down, as it is more objective, simply identifying a fact rather than being drawn in emotionally
If you do this, you can then take positive action to rectify this weakness, working to strengthen your skills in these areas
Or at the very least, you can take some action, such as seeking help, to help you overcome the issues the weaknesses bring with them

3. Patience
If you want something important in life, chances are it can't be attained immediately and will take patience to achieve in life
The fact is, most people will give up on working towards their goals because it takes time to achieve what they want to
For this reason, patience is a vital quality to have when working towards your goal, but requires a great deal of mental strength and resolve
This is because you will face challenges and problems along the way, it's an inevitable part of any long and worthwhile ventures

4. Focus on Self Improvement
For many, there's a perception that self improvement is somewhat of a wishy washy pseudo-science that shouldn't be taken seriously
In fact, much related to the self improvement industry has proven evidence to show that what's often being recommended as benefitting your wellbeing is based on fact
People who aim to improve are mentally strong, firstly by breaking through mass perception to proceed with going through with something they are passionate about
...but also because as part of self improvement, you also need to look at yourself objectively, which we identified requires great mental strength

5. Calmness
Sometimes staying calm in a tense situation can appear to lack courage, but often it's far from the truth
The ability to control emotions is a significant sign of mental strength, and can work to benefit you under intense stress
It not only helps you reacting in ways that you might later regret, keeping a cool head can also help you think through situations in a more logical and productive way
A skill that's not to be disparaged, but rather one that should be hugely admired
