Скачать или смотреть SLAM Examines 800 Years of Cultural Exchange with Southwestern Native Textiles

In its newest exhibition, the Saint Louis Art Museum uses a gift of textiles by local collectors, Elissa and Paul Cahn, to explore migration and trade within the native cultures of southwestern United States and northern Mexico. “Southwest Weavings: 800 Years of Artistic Exchange” features thirteen works which include woven blankets, garments, and rugs. The primary emphasis is on pieces produced by Diné, or Navajo, artists and their interaction with their Pueblo neighbors, Spanish colonists, and even the booming textile industry created with the Industrial Revolution. Curator Alexander Brier Marr gives an overview of the show in this video. The exhibition is free and will be available through May 5, 2019 in the main building.
