Hiliu's the second album. There are 17 songs for your enjoyment; these consist of one gospel song, two ancient songs in praise of Queen Liliuokalani and 14 songs composed by the queen herself. Hiliu is excited to present a variety of arrangements on this album. For example, they include traditional Hawaiian instruments in addition to piano, guitar, ukulele, and other stringed instruments which Liliuokalani adored. A brass band (imagine the Royal Hawaiian Band) is invited to participate in the recordings, as players of wind instruments and choirs with members of all ages. Hiliu is working with many talented musicians, which is guaranteed to create a variety of sounds and rhythms in one album - from traditional Hawaiian beats to Bossa Nova and Swing Jazz. They also hope this album will be recognized for its significant artwork, not only in Hawaii but Worldwide.

Hiliu Lili‘uokalani Project
Queen Liliʻuokalani was the last queen of the Hawaiian Kingdom and composed many beloved songs in her time. Our "Liliʻuokalani project" aims to pay homage to her 100 year-old songs, so as to perpetuate her musical talents as assets in the education field for our future generations and digitally conserve Queen Liliʻuokalani's songs with Hiliu's unique and welcoming arrangements to make the originals more contemporary and accessible for listeners of all ages. In this, our second album, we have included a revival of the Royal Hawaiian Bands which Queen Liliuokalani loved so much back in the time when the Hawaiian Kingdom had a halcyon period at Iolani Palace, with the addition of flute, horn and stringed instruments. We had hoped that everyone would enjoy the beauty of Hawaiian music with ease and intimacy with our live performances. Unfortunately, this couldn’t happen, as all our events and concerts were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally, we planned to allocate the profits from the sales of our first album and the tickets from our live concerts into this project. This drastically affected our future plans, as it affected our current funding, which almost resulted in the cancelation of the release of this album.
But thanks to the many musicians and the recording studio who supported us and also our many supporters who organised and participated in fundraising and crowdfunding on the web, we were finally able to release this album. We are proud to present the sparkling musical gems of Queen Liliʻuokalani to you to be heard once again throughout the world. Thank you for your all support, and ALOHA!

The Queen's Prayer
Ke Aloha O Ka Haku
Queen Lili‘uokalani

"Ke Aloha O Ka Haku" is known as "The Lord's Mercy" in English. This song is now commonly called "The Queen's Prayer" and it was composed by Queen Liliʻuokalani on March 22, 1895, while she was imprisoned in ʻIolani Palace. Queen Liliʻuokalani wrote the song for her niece, the Princess Kaʻiulani (Victoria Kawēkiu Kaʻiulani Lunalilo Kalaninuiahilapalapa Cleghorn) who was heir apparent to the throne. At the bottom of the manuscript, Queen Liliʻuokalani wrote: "Composed during my imprisonment at ʻIolani Palace by the missionary party who overthrew my government"; the translation was made by Queen Liliʻuokalani.
