Let's talk about a few of the best kept secrets of Manhattan Beach. Ok? Here goes. Today, I'm talking about something a little different: a few little known facts of this tiny So Cal Beach Town of 35,000ish residents... well...it has a LOT going on!

First off, did you know Manhattan Beach almost became part of Los Angeles? Crazy, right? Back in 1912, they became a city narrowly escaped getting annexed by LA and avoided the big-city sprawl. That's why it's still a charming little beach town...you know.... with world class restaurants...

What started it was the Red Car... the Pacific Electric Company's red trolley bringing visitors from LA to Redondo Beach. Redondo Beach was in it's heyday in the 1880's because it was the Port of LA with it's three piers. That's another video! The Red Car travelled down the coast & made stops further North in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. Imagine when it was over 100 degrees in smoggy LA and a 1 hour ride to the coast would go from hot & dirty to clean 65-75 degree salty air.
