Jump-start your theatre career this summer from anywhere with an Internet connection at Center Theatre Group's free, virtual professional development series. Designed for current college and university students studying theatre but open to all, the Working in Theatre Summer Series is a 10-week course focused on the skills and knowledge emerging professionals need to build a career in live theatre.

This week’s session is all about how to get money for artists to create their work. Lisa Sanaye Dring and Abdel J. López join Center Theatre Group to discuss the best ways to apply for grants, fellowships, apprenticeships, and other opportunities to help you procure funding and support for your work.

Panelists:

Lisa Sanaye Dring is a writer, director, and actor. She is the Associate Director at Circle X Theatre Co, a member of East West Players’ Playwrights Group, and a MacDowell Fellow. Lisa's work has been developed/produced by The New Group, Actors Theatre of Louisville, East West Players, Circle X, SCF @ Son of Semele, Playwrights’ Arena, Rogue Artists Ensemble, The Motor Company and Theatre of NOTE.

Abdiel J. López is the Program Associate at the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), a
California-based knowledge and financial services incubator for individual artists. Abdiel works closely on CCI’s AmbitioUS initiative, which invests in alternative economic efforts led by artists and cultural workers to reflect their community’s desire for financial independence. Abdiel also oversees the CALI Accelerator Grant program, a professional development grant program for CA-based arts leaders, and helps facilitate the CAL-Now network, a network of arts workers focused on bolstering leadership, networks, and professional development.
