A recent incident in Peckham involving a store owner and a customer has taken a divisive turn, with the community divided along racial lines.

The incident began when a woman reportedly asked for a refund at the store, but instead received a voucher for goods of the same value. When she attempted to leave the store with more items than the voucher covered, the store owner is believed to have intervened, leading to a physical altercation.

The incident was caught on camera and shows the store owner with his hands around the woman's neck.

James Melville tells Kevin O'Sullivan that "there will be flashpoints" but people should avoid trying to spread the incident automatically into racism.
