Dr. BMK is at his sonorous best throughout and it is needless to say he has completely captivated our minds and souls. Whenever he sings krithis like the Saveri varnam, Sadhinchene, Suryamurthe, Tholi Ne Jesina and Meenakshi Memudam Dehi, he always brings something new and fresh, whether it is an unheard note during the eDDugaDa swarams for Saveri, the spontaneous swarakshA for samayAniki tagu mATal(A)DenE, sparkling sangatIs for sari vAralalO cauka jEsi and vINA gAna daSa gamaka kriyE, the haunting mood of Emi sethurA linga, the divinity of Aj AyE shyAma mOhan, etc.

This is the best version of the rEvati RTP I have heard in my life. The 3 octave throat at his command; he brings various shades during the AlApana which captivate the audience. Not a false note is noticed when he jumps between notes with ease. He seamlessly transitions to the thAnam by starting at the tara sthAyi shadja and sings it like a Vedic mantram or even Vishnu Sahasranamam. When he gradually goes to the madhyama sthAyi shadja, the listener immediately feels goosebumps. He switches between chatusra and khanda gathi making it look like child's play! Chalakudy is having the time of his life as he can't help but exclaim out loud. Mavelikkara maintains the kAlapramAna with his kuchi mridangam magnificently. When the pallavi commences, it is as if we are taken to the divine. He creates so many sangatIs around the pallavi line by for example jumping from the thAra sthAyi madhyama to the madhyama sthAyi madhyama and to the mandra sthayi madhyama. His trademark swarakshA are clearly evident as he whimsically highlights madhyama whenever he wants to. He then goes to the slower portions, where he keeps us at our toes. He then goes to the normal beat and then switches to tisram which catches everyone off guard and then to the faster beat.

The swaraprastara is the best thing of this rendition. This is where his brilliance and unpredictability comes in. Pay attention to how he plays around with the swarams by emphasizing madhyama and at one point ends it with Uma. When he switches to the rAgamAlikA, we are enraptured by how he completely owns each rAgam. So many emotions and variations pop out that you can't keep count! Enthused and emboldened at the brilliance of Dr. BMK, Chalakudy alternates between long and stoccato notes and brings so much soulfulness into his responses. Mavelikkara Krishnan Kutty Nair's dhim, nam, ta and chApu continues to radiate brightly and Thripunithura Radhakrishnan makes his presence known with his gratifying ghatam play. Then Dr. BMK brings them together with quick swaraprastAra and they finish it off in style!

Here are some comments I'm preserving from the other upload:

Jayakrishnan S: "The RTP is one among the best sung by BMK. The way he sang the Thanam is unique. Starting from the higher it flows down. Excellent ragamalika kalpanaswaram in Charukeshi. Though Shahana was sung more in the traditional way, the switch over from Shahana to the pallavi in Revathi is seamless. The creative variations of Balamurali makes Sindhubhairavi different."

Krish Murthy: "Dr. BMK is the best Musician, Creator of his own Ragas and Compositions. This is the best I have heard with Purvi Kalyani and the Ragam Thanam Pallavi in Revathi followed by Ragamaligai (Charukesi, Sahana and Sindhubhairavi)."

Kalavathy Ranganathan: "RTP in Revathi is superb. 'MahEswari! kAvUma Uma Ma MAthanghi! MaraghathAnghi.!'"

Srinivasaraghavan Shivarama Sastri: "1.Saveri: Jumping strait from chittaswara to charanam is Murali Mudra! 2. Arabhi: Thyagaraja Relived! 3. Sourashtram: Dhikshithar invoked! 4. Suddha Bangala: Appetizer before main feast! 5. Poorvikalyani: Rasika could feel the natural amalgamation of three divine aspects viz Minakshi, Dhikshithar & Poorvikalyani! 6. Revathi: I heard this RTP a few times, each time in different dimensions. What a thanam with percussion! The colour filled raga malika swara prasthara!"

Enjoy this concert!
