11 Shear Design in beams – How to design shear reinforcement | Eurocode 2 Concrete Design TUTORIAL

Описание к видео 11 Shear Design in beams – How to design shear reinforcement | Eurocode 2 Concrete Design TUTORIAL

Dr Jawed Qureshi explains shear design in reinforced concrete beams. Learn how to design shear reinforcement/stirrup/shear links. This video is part of the Eurocode 2 Concrete Design lecture series.

Not designing a concrete beam for shear force can lead to sudden brittle failure. We want beams to fail in a gradual, ductile manner. Often, stirrups – shear links or metal loops around the top and bottom steel bars in concrete beams – provide shear resistance. Ensuring RC beams fail in flexure gives us warning and significant deformation before they fail. In this tutorial, I’ll cover the shear design process according to Eurocode 2 using a practical example on reinforced concrete beams.
