Описание к видео What the Arab Slave Trade Did to African Women Was Worse Than Death

For over a thousand years, a vast human trafficking system operated across Africa, the Middle East, and the Islamic world—one so effective at erasing its victims that almost no descendants remain to remember them.

This documentary exposes the Arab slave trade, a system that began in the 7th century and continued into the 20th. Between 14 and 17 million Africans were captured, sold, marched across deserts, castrated, exploited, and erased. Unlike the Atlantic slave trade, this history left no monuments, no mass descendants, and almost no public memory—only bones buried beneath the Sahara.

You will follow the journey from African villages raided at dawn, through the trans-Saharan death marches where up to half died along the way, into the slave markets of Cairo, Zanzibar, Tunis, and Baghdad. You’ll see how men were systematically castrated to prevent reproduction, and how women were trafficked as sexual property, absorbed into households where their names, languages, and identities were deliberately destroyed.

This is not a story of distant antiquity. Slavery in parts of the Arab world was only officially abolished in the 1960s and 1980s. These are events within living memory.

Historians have long struggled with this subject—not because evidence is lacking, but because the outcome was total erasure. No surviving communities. No generational memory. Just silence.

This film does not exist to assign modern guilt or provoke hatred. It exists to confront historical reality, to restore memory to those whose humanity was systematically stripped away, and to acknowledge a tragedy the world largely chose not to remember.

Remember them not as numbers—but as people who had names, families, and lives before history tried to erase them.

This is Unnoto Story TV.
We don’t sanitize history. We show what actually happened.
