CORINTH, Ky. (WKRC) - It's been more than three days since some people in southern Grant County in Kentucky have had running water.

Mark Rowland is one of them. Rowland knew he was going to get dirty fixing his fiance's SUV on Monday.

"I'm going to be covered in grease. How am I going to get a bath?" Rowland said. But the new SUV thermostat couldn't wait.

Rowland said they've been without water since Friday, May 18.

"I went to get a glass of water and the pressure was way down and I'm like 'what's going on with the water?' And my fiance, Amber, was like 'It's been like that all day," Rowland said.

Luckily, Amber bought a kiddie pool a week before the break in the Corinth water system that has left everyone without water. It's been providing more than just fun for the kids, they've been using it to fill up buckets to flush the toilets.

"We took some water out of the pool, boiled it and got showers with that. It actually felt like a real bath even though it wasn't," Rowland said.

The city clerk said they've narrowed down where the leak isn't. They will have workers and volunteers walking the lines searching for it Tuesday.

They hope to find the leak and if they can get the parts, get the water switched on for everyone by the end of the day.

Rowland said the city has stopped by to give them updates about the search for the leak.

"He said they walked nine miles of line yesterday. They've been on it. They've been working on it. It's just one of them things where it's that time of year that everything is so grown up they can't see where the water leak is coming from," Rowland said.

The city bought some water and some of it was donated by the Kroger in Georgetown, south of the area. They'll be handing it out Tuesday at 10 a.m. near City Hall.

Rowland and his family are trying to stay positive while they're without water.

"There's a lot worse things in life than dealing without water for a couple of days," Rowland said.

Local 12 is told nearby fire departments are on standby with their tanker trucks in case a fire were to happen and there was no water available.
