This is How Much a Private ACL Reconstruction Costs | Private Hospital

In this video I detail the exact costs of a Reconstruction of my ACL. This is now the 2nd time I have had this operation but unfortunately this time I am not insured and cannot wait for to have it done on the NHS due the NHS waiting times.

Rightfully so, there are higher priority patients than a fit 27 year old with a slight limp. Unfortunately, that means I've decided to have my ACL Surgery done privately which also means footing the bill.

I had only done injured my ACL I may have waited but this time I have also torn my medial meniscus and so waiting, and potentially risking further injury, I didn't think was wise.

Strangely with ACL tears, after a few weeks recovery, you can continue to walk around as normal. I'm told you can even return to sport with the right amount of physio. But with any high intensity high level sport, it is strongly advised that you have an ACL reconstruction and because I'd like to get back to competitive sport, an operation was the best option.

I had a reconstruction on the same knee just over 4 years ago and fortunately, I was covered for private healthcare under my Dad's work place scheme. This meant, I had an operation almost immediately, but also meant that I could have an allograft as oppose to an autograft. This meant a donor, in my case a deceased American, provided a new ligament. As a result, no graft of my hamstring or patella was taken and recovery was quick.

I've decided to go for the same operation again so I can get back to normal quicker. However, because this time I've also hurt my cartilage, it is not going to be as quick.

Nevertheless, I'm going to keep positive and also document the journey back to full fitness, so keep your eye on my channel for regular updates post operation.
