This is Hearthstone Castle in Danbury CT. An abandoned castle that is now part of Tarrywile Park, a large Connecticut public park that has seven acres with hiking trails, picnic areas, playground areas, a stream, fields and bird sanctuary. It was built between 1895 and 1899 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It had three floors and sixteen rooms and was fully occupied up until 1987 when it was sold to the City of Danbury.
You can read the entire history on Wikipedia which lists all the owners, it's quite interesting. I figured I would try to metal detect where they removed the wooden floorboards along the perimeter but didn't find anything of value. I didn't metal detect long though because there were many pieces of scrap metal as I expected. Someday I'll find that elusive gold coin. I can now take Hearthstone Castle off my bucket list. Thanks for watching.
