Beat the summer heat with these 3 cool and refreshing Nimbu Pani Recipes: Classic Nimbu Pani, Masala Shikanji and Mint (Pudina) Nimbu Pani. These Indian Lemonade Recipes are quick and easy summer drinks that you can make at home with lemon or lime. In fact, they're perfect for Ramadan and Eid as well! Nimbu Pani literally means lemon or lime water so it’s very similar to lemonade, but with an Indian twist of course. The secret to the perfect Nimbu Pani is the very humble Kala Namak, also known as Black Salt ot Rock Salt. That’s the key ingredient that gives Nimbu Pani it’s unique tangy flavour. It is the perfect way to enhance your regular Lemonade or plain cold water for the scorching summer heat.

For all 3 Nimbu Pani Recipes, I’ve utilized cold water as my primary liquid, but you can also use Soda Water to make it bubbly and fizzy. If you don’t have that, you can use soft drinks like Sprite or 7-Up even. Kids especially love the taste of soft drinks so they’ll love these 3 Nimbu Pani Recipes even more with their favourite carbonated drink.

Out of these 3 NImbu Pani recipes, my personal favourite is Masala Shikanji. It’s a traditional Indian Lemonade infused with lots of spices and flavours that give it a sweet, salty, sour, tangy and refreshing flavour. In North India especially cities like Delhi, Shikanji is commonly sold by street vendors during the summer months. It’s a perfect refreshing and cooling drink for the scorching Indian summer. If you haven’t previously had Masala Shikanji, I highly recommend you try my recipe! I’m sure you’ll absolutely love it!!

If you have guests over, this is great to serve to them as well. Everyone is used to soft drinks but this could be your secret summer drink that will keep guests very happy and talking about you for long time. Not only is it healthier than soft drinks, but Nimbu Pani will refresh them even more in the hot summer heat. It’s also perfect to give to your children when they come back from school. It keeps them cool so they don’t get sick from the extreme heat.

Classic Nimbu Pani Ingredients:

Lemon or Lime Juice - 2 tablespoon
Salt - 1/8 tsp, or a pinch
Kaala Namak (Rock Salt) - 1/4 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp, or as per desired sweetness
2-3 Ice Cubes
Cold Water - 1/2 cup + to top with
Lemon Slice - for garnish

Masala Shikanji Nimbu Pani Ingredients:
Lemon or Lime Juice - 2 tablespoon
Salt - 1/8 tsp, or a pinch
Kaala Namak (Rock Salt) - 1/8 tsp, or a pinch
Roasted Jeera (Cumin) Powder - 1/4 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp, or as per desired sweetness
Dhani (Coriander) Powder - 1/4 tsp
Black Pepper - 1/8 tsp, or a pinch
Chaat Masala - 1/4 tsp
Mint Leaves (Pudina) - 4-6 leaves
2-3 Ice Cubes
Cold Water - 1/2 cup + to top with
Lemon Slice - for garnish

Mint Pudina Nimbu Pani Ingredients:

Lemon or Lime Juice - 2 tablespoon
Mint Leaves (Pudina) - 10-12 leaves + for garnish
Salt - 1/8 tsp, or a pinch
Kaala Namak (Rock Salt) - 1/4 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp, or as per desired sweetness
2-3 Ice Cubes
Cold Water - 1/2 cup + to top with
