Getrag transmission, manual, five-speed, in the W140 generation S Class. Great by the way, with a typically sporty layout with one to the left and back, two forward and three to back. Most of the gears shifted here stay flush, which supposedly used to be useful for racing drivers on tracks, but works just as well for normal city driving.
