So the real accountability question isn’t immigrants.

It’s whether the state is doing its job.

That means asking:
• Are program costs clearly reported?
• Is state funding distinguished from federal funding?
• Are outcomes measured — including preventative care savings?
• How do these programs affect premiums, wait times, and hospital capacity?

You can support humane access to healthcare and demand fiscal clarity. These are not opposing values.

Middle-class families deserve honesty about where their money goes.
Public health requires realism, not fear-based narratives.

If leaders want public trust, they should publish:
– full cost breakdowns
– funding sources
– utilization data (without targeting patients)
– long-term cost comparisons between emergency vs. preventative care

Scapegoating doesn’t fix budgets.
Governance does.
